Curious About Obtaining a Medical Marijuana Card?

In this blog, hopefully we can shine some light on legalized medical marijuana in certain states and create some clarity for any of you out there who are curious about obtaining your own marijuana card. First things first, my suggestion to anyone looking to obtain a medical marijuana card is to look at the list of qualifying conditions. Some examples of these conditions include chronic pain, arthritis, and other physical ailments. Unfortunately, not all states recognize anxiety and depression, insomnia, migraines, and glaucoma as qualifying conditions with which to be treated by medical marijuana. In my opinion, this is a huge mistake by the people who make these policies. They are losing out on a lot of money that exists within the medical marijuana industry and making it harder for people who truly need the health improving benefits of cannabis. Either way, some states do not necessarily agree on what constitutes the use of medical marijuana for certain conditions.

When it comes to qualifiers of current medical marijuana patients, the most common is pain. The vast majority of patients who are consistently being approved for medical marijuana experience pain greater than 2 weeks that is not controlled with standard treatment. Some of these ailments that people deal with are Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, cancer, als, seizures, epilepsy, HIV, and others in those same categories. It is super important for doctors to know as much information as possible when it comes to your physical pain and ailments; with the appropriate information available, doctors can approve you for medical marijuana and even give you a prescription the same day. I know of a lot of people who are regularly using medical marijuana as a means of coping with chronic pain or conditions, and they will honestly tell me that medical marijuana is able to treat their pain in a way that other prescriptions simply cannot. Plus, it is also true that marijuana usually has less adverse effects than other forms of treating pain or chronic conditions.

If you qualify for a medical marijuana card and would like to try medical cannabis for your condition, you can get a letter the same day and legally obtain and use cannabis in certain states. Remember, not all states approve the use of medical marijuana in the same ways. It is true that there is a lot of discrepancy when it comes to doctors being able to prescribe cannabis to patients dealing with pain. However, I will say that if you are struggling with pain and want to see a doctor to check if you qualify for medical marijuana treatment, you should absolutely go for it!

Another quick fact that I wanted to let you in on is that medical cannabis cards usually expire after 6 months or a year (again, it really depends on the state more than anything). With that being said, you will usually get a reminder from your medical provider or doctor that you are in need of renewing your medical cannabis card. Sometimes, the renewal can even be done remotely through video chat or telehealth. If medical marijuana is something that you feel you need in your life, don’t hesitate to reach out to your local doctor or physician and get some medical marijuana for yourself today!
