THC-V, the New cannabinoid in town

A close relative to THC, THCV is one that’s offering a psychoactive effect at much higher levels, but at small levels, this really clears the head and makes you feel more open. Only till recently did certain wild-type and landrace strains offer the source of THC-VV for this, but a lot of hybrids are now being bred with these effects. Here, you’ll learn a little bit about that it is, and why It’s the new cannabinoid in town.

What THC-V is

This is basically similar to THC, but THCV is one that offers a special type of chemical property within your body, and it causes different interactions. Which can offer a ton of health benefits. Right now, the research is still in the early stages, but it’s vital for certain health issues and the treatment of such.

This came from different types of compounds, and THCV actually started as cannabigerovarin acid, or CBGV. This is actually one of the main cannabinoids that is a precursor. The other major precursor is CBGA, which is basically what’s responsible for THC, CBD, and CBC. CBGV-A is basically a converted process that goes into THCV-A through the enzymes that break it down. Then, when it’s decarboxylated, this then gets turned into the THCV that we know about. Basically, we can thank the sun and the heat for this type of process.

The difference

At the core, THCV and THC are similar, but the 3-carbon group is what differs it from the typical 5-carbon group that regular THC has. THCV can be the same level of psychoactive that THC is, and it offers an intense high that’s incredibly psychedelic, but it’s a lot shorter. They both do work with the CB1 and 2 receptors, but in lower dosages, THCV is considered more of an antagonist, rather than an agonist, so small amounts may actually reduce how psychotropic THC is. Lower dosages also counteract the paranoia, anxiety, and the elevated heart rate that happens, along with the munchies you get. But at higher levels, it basically works as THC does. 4

The Effects

The effects of THCV is a lot more limited compared to what we know about some of the other major cannabinoids. However, this does bind to some of the similar receptors, and it can improve the immunity and brain health, and it benefits the entire body. Some research has found that THCV is great for improving the suppression of the appetite, and it also helps to regulate your aversion and reward mechanisms within the brain that are fully connected to eating disorders, along with obesity as well.

Some research has been found to look at the double-bind study within those that are healthy, and the neural response that offers rewards and aversive symptoms and stimulation creates a sort of image in many people. When you consume THCV in a lot smaller amounts, it basically stimulates your neural response that you have, especially if it’s a situation where the stimulation is aversive, so you’re not going for the food rewards.  Right now though, there needs to be more research, but there is a possibility for the therapeutic use to properly utilize THCV against the growing obesity epidemic.

It also may help with the regulation of blood sugar, as one study actually indicated that there was a much smaller fasting blood glucose in the plasma, especially in those patients that have diabetes. While there is still more research to be done, this could prove to be a helpful means to help with the treatment of obesity and blood sugar issues.
